ideal stage setting is a loaded question. naturally i would love to play bigger stages in theaters and bigger venues. the bigger stages feel professional and most of the time sound better. however there is something about playing a dive bar or a small club that makes me feel at home. whether it is all of us in a tight space sweating, bleeding, and banging through a set or a crowd that is always hungry for more. it just feels right. lighting is something that i don’t really pay to much attention to. it’s cool to look back at a video and say “man those lights made the stage look great” but i don’t really notice in the moment. the right season to tour in is tricky. depending on where you are.. the summer is generally too hot, the winter is almost always too cold, and spring and fall usually feel pretty good. but you always have to go out without reservation and focus on the goal even if it is december in chicago. just go out and play!
