Day 20: (Vocals + Percussion + Organ)
- How Love Is Made (previously referred to as New Song)
I’m going to make this quick as we (I really mean I) seem to get to the studio later and later everyday! And there is too much work left to be done on this album in 2 days for me to not be sleeping right now and getting there on time tomorrow for a FULL days work! Today was a bit stressfull, but awesome and relaxing and good all at the same time. I just cringe at the sound of my own voice, but thankfully the rest of the band is there for support and coaches me through it. In previous blog posts we’ve called it New Song, but now it’s offically been titled How Love Is Made. That was supposed to be one of the songs we worked on today, but instead, we worked on ONLY How Love Is Made today! Again, good and bad all at the same time. A bummer time wise, but the song sounds good so we really cannot complain. There are things to be said about stepping into a studio with fresh songs on the table that haven’t completely been worked out before hand, as well as those songs being a new venture sound wise for the band, but to combat that, How Love Is Made and Sweet Love have captured a completely different sound from the band as a whole and musically a different side of each of us individually, in addition to giving us a chance to be creative and form new ideas on the fly and see it all happen right there before you without any preconvieved notions! Jay layed down some killer Ooooo’s on the track, maybe I’m wrong, but between the harmonies and the pianos parts Knox layed down, we’re channeling some Steely Dan spirit that I didn’t even know was in us, ha! Hmmm, I’m not really making this quick am I? Shoot! Just a bit more, we had some friends drop in today and it’s always nice to have an outside opinion during this process, especially when they are positive, and even more so when they come from someone you love and respect! Our gal friend Gina dropped by today as well as our good buddy Mr. Andy Lee. He and we intended to have him play a bit of peddle steel on a track, but decided that maybe we should not do so and instead, just enjoy each other company for a bit! He was kind enough to drop a falsetto on How Love Is Made, ha, so that was fun as well! And speaking of friends, we had a great day on Stickam today as well! Ryan from Stickam boosted us up to an Entertainer Account this week so now our page is looking just a pinch more spiffy and we made several new friends today. KungFuSyd, SallyOMally, JenWilliams, Mehga, Focis, and the whole crew of peeps that said hello today, that was killer, so if you like to chat, have a cam, or just want to watch us be silly, please, come on by the web cam and say hello as we’re LIVE in the studio!!! Woo!!! OK, bye bye for a few hours, see you around noon!
